Gout Symptoms And Gout Causes

Gout is a very severe form of arthritis and occurs when there is a profusion of uric acid built up in the body. Uric acid is a waste product and builds up due to overloading of the organs including the liver and kidneys. As soon as there is a build up of Uric acid present in the body the consequence can include such as antagonizing pain in the joints all the way through the body, especially appearing in the big toes. Uric acid build up can also result in painful kidney stones.

It is difficult to predict when an attack of gout will occur. Symptoms can develop rapidly over a few hours and usually last for 3-10 days. After this time, the joint will start to feel normal again and any pain or discomfort should eventually disappear completely.

The sooner symptoms are treated, the more quickly the pain will pass. You may experience symptoms every few weeks, months or years, but it is impossible to predict when the condition will recur. Sixty-two per cent of people experience a repeat attack of gout within a year. However, some people only ever experience one attack in their lifetime.

Many times the gout attack can be relentless and very excruciating; equally it often awakens one from sleep when the attack occurs.

Gout symptoms can be broken down into three key stages:

1. The first symptom of gout is acute (sudden and severe) joint pain, usually in the joint of the big toe. Symptoms often develop during the night, although they can occur at any time. Other symptoms of gout include:
Swelling of jointsInflammation of jointsShiny red skin over the affected jointsItchy and flaky peeling skin over the affected joints

The intense pain that gout causes can make walking and getting around difficult. Even the light pressure of a bed cover or blanket can be painful.

It is at this stage when gout starts to cause injury to the body. The blood becomes incapable of breaking down the elevated level of uric acid and it begins to crystallize and then be deposited in joint spaces. This is when the agony and swelling occurs. Attacks by and large come about during the nighttime and if not treated can continue for weeks at a time. If not treated still the attacks turn out to be more brutal and keep going for longer periods of time.

2. The second stage of gout is the time when an attack of gout has subsided and at this time there are no symptoms but it is because the body's immune system is stabilizing itself for extra attacks on the uric acid crystals which have become overly concentrated in the blood. If the gout sufferer does not achieve treatment by this stage the disease can be very problematical to control.

3. The third and final stage of gout is when it becomes chronic, which is the nastiest and most destructive stage of the disease. By this stage the gout has caused lasting impairment to the joints and in specific cases the kidneys as well. Equally at this stage the affiliated joint can grow to be deteriorated and cause crippling pain. In extreme cases the kidney can lose its functions, which can subsequently lead to kidney failure and death. Gout is a disease like many others which builds upon itself if not treated at the opening stages. It is vitally important to recognise the gout symptoms at the earliest stages before irreversible damage is done. There are many cases of people achieving an effective cure.

Swollen Ankle Causes

Swelling of the ankles is basically due to a buildup of fluids in the tissues surrounding that area. It can be attributed to many causes such as edema, where due to improper circulation, fluid is trapped between the cells.

It can be a side effect from certain medications, such as those used to treat high blood pressure. Arthritis can cause swelling as can the condition known as gout, where uric acid accumulates around the ankle causing swelling and inflammation.

Those who are obese are more prone to suffer from swelling ankles. Also the use of certain medications especially diuretics and laxatives tend to cause the ankles to swell up.

Rheumatoid arthritis can lead to swelling in the ankles. Senior citizens are more likely to have this condition as the cartilage in the joints starts to degenerate.

Blood clots will cause the ankles and feet to swell. These are known as vascular obstructions. And of course injuries to the area such as sprains and breaks will cause swelling.

If the liver is not functioning correctly, then fluids and salts will start to accumulate in the feet. This may be due to cirrhosis of the liver.

For women, pregnancy can be a cause of swelling ankles. This condition is usually just a temporary condition, but if there is a lot of swelling, it could be a sign of toxemia or even pre-eclampsia.

It is important to seek professional medical advice if this is a recurring problem. This due to the fact that swelling of the ankles can be an early sign of more serious problems down the road such as kidney, heart, and liver complications. Through a complete physical examination and a range of other tests including kidney function tests, electrocardiograms, urine tests, blood tests and x-rays, a diagnosis can be made.

If you stand for long periods of time, especially on hard surfaces such as concrete, then you may have problems with your feet and swelling. Gel insoles and rubber mats may help somewhat.

And of course proper footwear will have a great effect on your feet. For women especially who wear the latest designer shoes, in particular, high heels. The high heels offer no ankle support at all leading to a great deal of strain around that area and in effect cause it to swell.

There are a few things you can do to help yourself. You should always try to elevate your feet when sitting. Wear looser fitting clothing. Compression stockings will help stop some of the fluid buildup. Exercising, cutting down on salt intake and drinking enough water everyday will help in most cases.

What Causes Back Pain in Daily Living?

Back pain is the most common cause of visits to your family doctor, because of its interference in our movements in daily activities. The reason for its high incidence is because you are creating too much dynamic movement in your spine, during these activities; with insufficient balanced, stationary movement that your spine truly needs.

The spine consists of 24 individual vertebral bones that lay vertically on top of each other, attached to the one above by a facet joint; that keep the vertebrae linked together for producing a vertical support. Between each vertebra are discs made from cartilage that act as cushions or shock absorbers between each vertebra. These protect the spine from any downward pressure, such as when lifting or carrying items.

The main purpose of the spine is to provide a vertical frame to our body, so that we can stay upright in a balance position, for all the daily living activities. Each of the individual vertebrae can make minor adjustments to the spine, for maintaining the upright position when moving our body.

Movement in the spine should not be compared to any other skeletal joint, because the vertebral joints are called gliding joints; which means they only make tiny gliding movements for keeping the spine upright and balanced. The vertebral joints are incapable of too much movement, or they force the tendons and ligaments to stretch, generating discomforts in your back.

There are no strong muscles surrounding your lower spine that support any movements and therefore you will feel strain and stresses on the tendons and ligaments that hold the spine together. If the severe movements continue on a repetitive basis, the tendons and ligaments will stretch and one of the discs may protrude between the vertebrae; leading to pressure on the nerves that will cause severe back pain.

“How will I know if that I am doing things wrong?” you may ask. The answer comes by understanding what muscles you need to be using. The strongest muscles in your body are your leg muscles, because we use them so much in productive mobility.

It is your powerful quadriceps and hamstring muscles in your legs that you should be using instead of bending your back. These large muscles will take enormous amounts of power, with the help of your arms, when lifting and bending. The pectoral muscles in your upper back are used for overhead lifting, but the muscles in your legs do all the work in your lower back.

My advice is to take up yoga, as this will teach you how to perform correct movements in your body and strengthen the parts that are giving you problems.

In turn, I will write about the movements in basic daily activities that will cause problems in your back. If you are not doing the movements correctly, then this may be causing your discomfort.

The body has so many joints to move in purposeful activity for safety and comfort. It is often difficult to know whether you are performing these activities correctly. It may seem elementary to explain the movements, but the slight physical changes that you can make, can actually make a dramatic difference to the comfort of your back.

Inflammation and the Diseases it Causes

When people have allergies, aching joints, stiff hands, Rheumatoid Arthritis, these are all diagnosed conditions; and the underlying cause is inflammation. Chronic inflammation breaks down our body’s defense system and when that happens we end up with heart disease, diabetics, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and coronary artery disease. The disease that most people are searching for is Arthritis pain relief. The constant aches and pains in their body will grow into a chronic debilitating disease that will control their life, clouds the mind with depression in feeling there is no hope to live a pain free life. Believe me; it is possible to live pain free life.
The worst thing a person can do is treat their inflammation with over the counter drugs, or prescribed drugs. They do not treat the underlying cause. Most of these medicines have an adverse effect on the body and only make the condition worse.
The answer to all of these debilitating diseases is nutrition. Search for a doctor that will test your blood, and find an answer for you and direct your feet on a path to regain good health. You can regain the health lost to this debilitating disease by taking nutritious supplements, using herbs and eating foods in the most natural state. Read the labels when shopping, avoid the additives; many have ingredients as preservatives, high sugar, and white flour. Do your homework, healing will come and you will be pain free, a little at a time. Avoid the sugar, it clogs the system and pre- packaged foods should be out of the question. Some foods you eat will cause a flare up, but eventually you will know which foods agree with your body to stay pain free of Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Use arthritic herbal remedies such as basil, garlic, turmeric and coriander, to season your food instead of pouring on the salt. These herbs are antioxidants, and will greatly strengthen your anti-inflammatory diet. Extra virgin olive oil for cooking is another smart move toward good health. Your heart will thank you. Reduce your dairy intake; many people have allergies that cause inflammation, and they don’t even know it. Plenty of fruit, vegetables, as green leafy spinach and kale along with a variety of grains are needed in the diet to help restore good health and keep waste moving out of the body.

Osteoarthritis: The Symptoms, Causes and Treatment

Degenerative joint disease or degenerative arthritis, popularly known as Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis which causes inflammation of one or more joints in the body. On being the most common form of arthritis, Osteoarthritis affects more than 50 million people all over the world.
Though the Osteoarthritis can affect any joint in the body, but it usually appears in knees, neck, hands, hips and lower back resulting in extreme pain.
The Symptoms

Some symptoms of arthritis include bony growths at the affected joints and a sensation during the movement of joint. The stiffness and pain of osteoarthritis usually begins at the age of 40 and then develop slowly. It can affect both large and small joints and can even hurt while lying down in the later stages.

The Causes

Though the medical profession cannot confirm specific Osteoarthritis causes but the associated risk factors include joint trauma in earlier days, overweight, infection in the joints, a sedentary lifestyle, aging, bone injuries, heredity, sports, repeated use of certain joins and overweight.

The most recommended way to diagnose Osteoarthritis Causes is either through x-rays or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Doctors can also recommend other tests such as aspiration, which involves draining fluid from the joint or blood testing.

The Treatment

The best and most suggested Osteoarthritis Treatment for the patients of arthritis is physical therapy. Certain exercises are also recommended so that the joints become more mobile and the pain is decreased. A daily exercise routine also helps in reducing the pain since lack of exercise can make symptoms worse. A regular, steady schedule is best.

What Are the Causes to Osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis is the problem related to the bones. As the name of the disease suggests it means porous bones. The bones become porous and cause osteoporosis. Many old people are noted to be suffering with the osteoporosis. But, nowadays even the young people are noted to be suffering with the problems of the osteoporosis. This makes the bones weak and the person suffers with the fractures very easily. The bones become porous due to the hollow-like spaces that are formed due to the deficiency of some minerals. Once you suffer with the osteoporosis you are at the high risk of the arthritis specifically osteoarthritis. You need to take good care of your bones when you suffer with the osteoporosis because there is high risk of fractures.

The scarcity of the essential minerals is one of the factors that contribute to the osteoporosis in the people. Bones require necessary amount of the calcium and phosphorous for the normal growth. If your body doesn’t get proper amount of the calcium and phosphorous then the bones development fails which results in the osteoporosis. The person at the initial stage don’t know about the osteoporosis, but later on he starts getting fractures very commonly. Even the pain in the bones is being noted as the preliminary symptom of the osteoporosis.

The inadequate amount of the Vitamin D in the body also results in the osteoporosis. Vitamin D is essential in the process of the calcium and phosphorous absorption. The insufficient amount of Vitamin D results in deficiency of calcium and phosphorous, which causes osteoporosis. For avoiding the deficiency of the Vitamin D it is suggested to take the sun bath specifically in the morning sunlight.

Hereditary is being noted to be one of the factors that is being linked to the osteoporosis. The person whose one of the parents is suffering with the osteoporosis is double the times prone to this disease. The percentage suffering with this type of osteoporosis is very low. Old age is another factor that makes the bones porous. During the old age the inadequate amount of minerals are supplied to the brain, which ultimately leads to the osteoporosis. As per the research studies conducted all over the world, women are noted to develop the osteoporosis more than men.

If you have the history of the broken bones then you are at high risk of osteoporosis. Once the bone is broken then it is very difficult to make it perfect again. The formation of the hollow spaces is faster in the broken bones. So, you must take the more care of broken bones to avoid osteoporosis. The intake of alcohol and smoking can increase your chances of suffering with osteoporosis. The carcinogenic substances that enter through the smoke put the negative impact on the bones. The bones get brittle due to this and they broke easily. Even alcohol disturbs the supply of the essential nutrients to the bones making you prone to the osteoporosis.

Low estrogen levels in the body is one of the major contributing factors towards the occurrence of the osteoporosis. The estrogen functions mainly to protect the bones from any external damage. In women the osteoporosis formation is noted more commonly because the fast decrease in the estrogen levels is being noted during the menopause phase. Women are noted to lose the bone mass at the rate of 4-8% every year after there ovaries stop producing estrogen. If your ovaries are removed then you are at high risk of suffering with the osteoporosis. In men also low levels of testosterone is noted to cause osteoporosis. So, these all factors singly or altogether leads to the occurrence of the obesity.
